Ruling Pratyantar at Birth and Devadutta Ayanamsha

June 20, 2017 in Vedic Astrology

This article is based on the principle of Mr. H.R. Shankar which were tested by Swami Sadasiva Giri in his books. I have only tested the principle over so many years and found them to be working perfectly.

In early 1990’s Mr. H.R. Shankar wrote some articles in Astrological Magazine titled Helpful Techniques of Predictive Astrology. He suggests a theory, the gist of his suggestion is that in a native’s life the ruling Pratanyantar dasha will have a direct and close bearing on any incident in his life. Means when an event happens in one’s life the Pratanyantar dasha lord will be connected to the Bhava or the Bhavesh which governs that event. For example, Marriage can take place in Pratyantar dashas connected with 7th House or 7th Lord or the planets connected with Karaka Venus.

Based on this principle, birth should be considered as a direct result of lagna bhava. So birth can take place in a planet’s Pratanyantar that is closely linked with Lagna Bhava or Lagna Lord or planets connected with them. The same holds true for Navamsha also. One has to see connections as based on the principle of PAC given by Sh. K N Rao.

Placement: Meaning Planets placed in house
Aspect: Meaning planets aspecting the House or its lord
Conjunction: Meaning planets in Conjunct with House Lord.

One can use this principle to fix the birth time by changing the time to get the right Pratyantar dasha at birth.

In 1996 Sh. K.N. Rao Sir released a book by Swami Sadasiva Giri who has used this principle extensively. The book’s title is “The Correct Value of Ayanamsa”. The book was distributed in our class in Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan by him. Swamiji has used a different value of ayanamsha in his book and has proved this principle extensively using examples. I have tried this principle for so many years and find it to be working very well.

To prove the rulingPratanyantar dasha principle I will take an example of Indira Gandhi’s chart 19-11-1917 23:11 Allahabad. To calculate the ruling PD we need Moon’s degree which comes to Capricorn 5-35 while using Lahiri ayanamsha. The ruling PD at birth is Sun/Merc/Ven. Now as per the principle the ruling antara has to be of Lagna or LL or planets associated with them in D-1 or D-9. If Moon is more stronger then lagna then it can also influence the birth Pratyantar dasha.

It is very clear that Ven is no way connected to the Lagna, LagnaLord, Chandra Lagna, Lagna Nakshatra etc so Ven PD does not agree with the theory here.

Now if we use Devadutta ayanamsha the Moon’s degree comes to Capricorn 5-57. The ruling PD at birth is Sun/Merc/Moon now which confirms to our theory. The PD lord Moon is the Lagna Lord itself and is aspecting the Lagna.

For friends who want to experiment with this principle and Devadutta ayanamsha, please note Devadutta ayanamsha is 22′ 37″ smaller then Chitrapaksha ayanamsha.  You can try this principle on birth charts where you are sure of birth time and once you gain confidence then you can fix birth time errors with this principle. For any clarifications, you can email me and I would surely try to help you on this.
